Parking
- Students must attend class regularly to develop their technique and syllabus work.
- Students must be punctual to class
- It is appreciated if parents can advise the teacher if a student is unable to attend class.
- Students wanting to attend classes held at other students need to get prior consent from The Dance Floor. This is NOT intended to stop them attending other schools, but is to ensure their safety.
Uniform
- All students must be appropriately dressed for class, with correct footwear.
- Small stud earrings may be worn to class, but for safety reasons no other jewellery is permitted.
- Hair is to be neat and securely held in a bun.
- Any student inappropriately dressed or groomed will not be permitted to participate in class due to safety reasons.
- All students must bring their own water bottle to class.
Fee Policies & Procedures
- Fees are payable by the due date on the invoice, unless prior arrangements are made. Late payments will incur an additional 10% per month until paid in full. Failure to pay fees may result in the enrolment being terminated.
- Fees remain the same per term regardless of the number of weeks in the term.
- All statutory holidays are observed. Where classes fall on public holidays, no makeup class or refund are given.
- If for any reason a class is cancelled by the teacher either an alternative class time will be offered, or a credit for that class will be given.
- Examination fees are additional to term fees.
Refund Policies & Procedures
- Partial refunds are available for students who withdraw from class within the first half of the term.
- Refunds are not given for students who are absent from class due to illness, injury or family reasons.
Privacy
- Enrolment forms are used by The Dance Floor ONLY. No information will be given to a 3rd party without prior consent.
- Photography/videography of your own child is allowed. If you wish to take group photos or video’s you must first receive the permission from the parents of the students involved. This is NOT the responsibility of The Dance Floor.
Health and Safety Policies & Procedures
- The Dance Floor is not liable for any personal injury obtained on the premises.
- The Dance Floor is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property whilst on the premises.
- The Dance Floor employs fully qualified dance teachers, who actively promote safe dance practice. We will provide a safe environment to reduce the risk of injury, but it needs to be acknowledged by parents and students that dance carries a small risk of accident and injury.
- It is the responsibility of the parent or student to inform their teacher of any prior injury, sickness, or medical condition that may affect the student’s full participation in class.
- A first aid kit is available from the teacher, but we do NOT provide any student with medicines/tablets without prior written consent from their parent.
- Students are under full supervision whilst in class only. While we endeavour to provide a safe environment before and after class teachers are NOT responsible for students outside of class time.
- For health and safety reasons students need to bring their own water bottle to every class, we do NOT provide glasses of water.
Dismissal
- The Dance Floor maintains the right to dismiss any student who does not show respect to other students, teachers, premises, or The Dance Floor property.
Newsletters
- Newsletters are sent out on a Monthly basis, however there are often extra emails sent out for various reasons. It is the parent’s responsibility to read these Newsletters and emails carefully.
- Please take note of dates and times, asking a teacher is not an option, as we can’t remember every students different timetable.
Etiquette
- Quiet is expected in the waiting room at all times so students in classes are not disturbed.
- Students are expected to be in class on time, however if a student is late they must enter the studio quietly and wait until the teacher welcomes them into the class.
- All students are to go to the toilet before entering the studio to keep lesson disruption to a minimum.
- Nobody is to enter the studio when music is playing.
- All mobile phones are to be switched off in the studio, this includes parent’s mobiles.
- Any other children in your care that become noisy during the class must be removed from the studio.
Examinations, Presentation Classes and Medal Tests
- All students will work towards sitting their examinations each year. However, students will be entered into examinations at the discretion of their teacher, and in consultation with the student and their parent. Exams are encouraged but are not compulsory.
- Students may be required to attend a small number of extra classes leading up to their exam.
- Additional costs associated with exams that are NOT included in term fees are:- Examination fee, Prop & skirt hireage, Hall hire, Exam day costs, Extra exam classes including a mock exam.
- Medal tests are optional and additional. Costumes for medal tests are to be provided by the parent, except for group medal tests.
- Once Examination Fees have been paid there is no refund, as the fees are paid directly to the examining board in England. In extreme cases of illness or injury, part refund may be available with a doctor’s certificate, but this is at the discretion of the examining board.
Concert
- Students may be required to attend a small number of extra rehearsals leading up to the concert.
- It is encouraged, but not compulsory, that all students will participate in the end of year concert. Any student participating is required to attend both rehearsals at the theatre.
- Parents are only permitted backstage or in the dressing rooms of the theatre if they are an allocated helper for that performance. For health and safety reasons non helpers are asked to leave the area. All students are fully supervised during rehearsals and performances at the theatre.
Costume and Examination Prop Hire
- To keep costs down for parents, concert costumes are owned by The Dance Floor. A small costume levy is payable per term to cover the cost of hireage for the concert. Once students have been measured for a costume this levy is no longer refundable.
- Lyrical & Character skirts are hired out for a small cost per year. They are NOT to be taken home by the students but returned at the end of class to the teacher for safe keeping.
- Students are to provide their own props for class time. They do NOT need to be expensive, they are for class use only. Special props are provided for examinations at a small hireage fee.
Choreography
- Choreography for exams and concerts remains the property of The Dance Floor, RAD or BTDA.
Parking
- Parking is only allowed in the car park of the venue we are using on that day, either the Masonic Hall or The Presbyterian Church.
